Title: Press Release: “CMA’s Pioneers” - An Innovative Initiative by the Capital Markets Authority to Prepare Employees for Post-Retirement
Kuwait, August 19, 2024 - The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) recently launched an internal training initiative aimed at preparing its employees for the post-retirement phase of their lives. This initiative is designed to help employees navigate the transitional period before embarking on a new chapter and provide them with the necessary tools to plan for their future, a phase often shrouded in uncertainty due to a lack of awareness. This included understanding retirement eligibility and benefits, as well as addressing the often unclear contours of the post-retirement life and its associated social and psychological implications.
The CMA’s initiative, titled “CMA’s Pioneers,” comprises a variety of training programs divided into two main phases: a pre-retirement preparation phase accessible to all employees, and post-retirement phase specifically designed for retirees. The pre-retirement phase offers programs aimed at providing the psychological and social preparation needed to cope with retirement, in addition to raising awareness about retirement benefits and comprehensive post-retirement planning, particularly in terms of finances.
The post-retirement phase, on the other hand, assists retirees in kick-starting their new professional and personal lives. This phase includes training programs in several fields, such as trading and investment, enabling retirees to make informed decisions about their future careers. Additionally, it promotes community engagement through various volunteer initiatives and fosters continued connections with the CMA to maintain the familial atmosphere that characterized their work period.
Chairman of the Board of Commissioners - Managing Director, Professor Ahmed Al-Melhem, emphasized the initiative’s significance in empowering retirees to embark on a new chapter of their lives while leveraging their professional experience at the CMA. Professor Al-Melhem stated: "The CMA's Pioneers campaign stems from our belief in the importance of recognizing our employees’ contributions and providing a supportive work environment for them in the next phase of their lives. Through this initiative, we seek to enable our employees to plan for their post-retirement future and capitalize on the expertise they have acquired throughout their careers.”
The CMA is launching this initiative with a comprehensive awareness campaign that includes a series of workshops to educate employees about various aspects of retirement, such as terms and conditions, insurance calculations, and financial planning for the future. Additionally, the campaign will provide a range of informative materials, such as brochures and visual clarifications, and offer individual consultations and advice from retirement experts.
The CMA calls on all its employees to participate in the activities of this initiative, as it considers this initiative a strategic move to appreciate its employees’ contributions, support them at every stage of their professional and personal lives, and prepare them for post-retirement, which the CMA considers the beginning of a new and revitalized chapter.
